How to Use the YouTube Audio Library to Add Music and Sound Effects to Videos
Are you struggling to find royalty-free songs for your YouTube videos? YouTube's Audio Library has you covered. Here's how you can use it.
If you're on a tight budget or just can't find the perfect audio track for your video project, don't panic. There are many free audio tracks out there on YouTube that are yours for the taking. All thanks to YouTube's Audio Library.
The YouTube Audio Library is a collection of music and sound effects from various genres, artists, and moods for use on YouTube content. Here, we'll look at how you can take advantage of YouTube's music library to spice up your videos.
How to Use Music and Sound Effects From the YouTube Audio Library
YouTube makes it really easy to add royalty-free music and sound effects to your videos. To use the YouTube Audio library music tracks in your videos, follow these steps:
- Go to the left sidebar of YouTube Studio and scroll down to the Audio library. Click on it to get started.
- Once you're in the Audio library section, you'll see three tabs: Free music, Sound effects, and Starred. You should also see a search bar that says Search or filter, with several different categories listed in dropdown menus right next to each other. Categories include artist name, genre, mood, duration, and Creative Commons license to help you decide on which song best suits your video's needs.
- Under Free music, for example, choose a category you like, say, Genre > Alternative & Punk, and click on APPLY. Alternatively, type in keywords in the search bar. Either of the two methods will pull up a list of tracks.
- Preview the music by clicking on the Play icon next to the track title. If you like the track, click the Star icon on its left side to add it to the tab named Starred.
- To add sound effects to your video, return to the YouTube Audio Library. Then, go to Sound effects and use the search and filter functions to find the suitable sounds. For example, if you only care about dog sounds, just type "dog" in the search function to display all the relevant sound effects. Add your favorite sound effect to Starred.
- Once starred, you can add them to your videos via YouTube Studio's built-in video editor. Go to Content > Uploads and hit the video you want the track added.
- Next, click on Editor from the left pane to open up the video editor. Click on Add a track to open the Free music and Starred tabs. Go to Starred and search for your music or sound effects by name or keyword.
- Once you find it, tap on it and click ADD, and then hit SAVE. YouTube will now add the track to your video. Note that you can add multiple sound effects or music at a time.
- After adding music and sound effects, click on Publish to share your video with the world. You can also save it as Unlisted to edit it later.
You can trim and cut your video, add music to it, and blur faces and other objects in the YouTube video editor, which is built-in. That may be enough for a basic film, but if you want to spice up your project with titles, effects, or other components, you'll need a more sophisticated video editor.
Add Music to Your Videos for Free Using YouTube's Audio Library
YouTube has a lot of free sound effects and music that you can use to spice up your videos. They have everything from video game sounds, animal noises, and ambient noise to royalty-free songs available for download on their site.
